Geoff Achison is moving to the U.S of A and is selling some of his stuff. This particular guitar he is parting with.
http://www.geoffachison.com/Portals/0/guitars_and_gear/Les-Paul-sm.jpg
This precious and beloved instrument is for sale. I have some travel/employment opportunities overseas but need money to do it. This guitar has enormous sentimental value. I'm hopeful that if it sells it will go to someone who cares about it's history.
'Goldie'
Gibson Les Paul Gold Top
Circa 1969
$25,000 *
Main guitar with:
Just Blues 1987 - 1989
'Dutch' Tilders 1989 - 1995
Souldiggers 1995 - 2003
Mostly retired since 2003 but still lovingly played at home & the occasional gig.
Recorded Blues Is My Life, Live At The Station & One More Time with Dutch Tilders + Gettin' Evil, Live At St Andrews & Souldiggin' In The UK with The Souldiggers
Countless national & international tours.
Please don't judge me harshly for offering this beauty for sale. Reality bites and right now I need to scrape some major bread together to keep my career and family alive.
Other stuff he's selling:
Gibson J-45 Acoustic Guitar $5,500 *
(Recorded 'Chasing My Tail' album )
Johnstone Custom Telecaster $5,500 *

wouldn't touch any les paul with a 10 metre barge pole. they're about as exciting as a strat-ie not very. plus, look! it's all scratched!

I don't think you would buy it to play it. It's all about the history...
I'm probably wrong...

so's yer face.
seriously, i find nothing exciting about them. I don't care who has used them and who has enjoyed them or what ever. The point is that "I" haven't, and I have found so many guitars out there which sound better and are far better to play. I couldn't give a shit about their iconic status in the slightest, it's what feels right to me that matters. So if any one is the tool, pal, it's you.

Then why the fuck are you posting in this thread here?
I agree with Julian.

because of my right to freedom of expression. because everyone's opinion is equal to the next person's. Because I think les pauls are over-rated.
I disagree with both of you- what's your point?
Well usually when I hate the topic of discussion I ignor it rather than stir up and argument, and that's my point... this guitar is meant to be bought for the sentimental value, which obviously you dont care about, rather than to play it so by you making a huge deal about how you hate them 'cos the don't feel good or whatever is pretty stupid. I'm pretty sure the feel and sound of the guitar wouldn't influence the buyer if this item.

forums are a place of argument. get over it. I'm not capable of ignoring the things I hate.

Forums are a place of discussion, not a place for hate and evil to fester within. I'd rather see that guitar put in a museum rather than some random's hands.

You obviously haven't noticed that people here don't seem to believe in free expression unless it's their own

whether people believe in it or not is irrelevant- I still have a right to it.

Yup, he's a tool and you are just another muppet playing a gretsch that thinks he is being original. Music doesn't equal the instrument you play, and since you put so much emphasis on it we will add "utter toss-pot that thinks he is cool because he plays music" to the list. You fu*king muppet.

I agree: Im just telling you that people arent likely to look kindly upon alternate views

Hahaha exactly. If Les Pauls and strats weren't as widley used i'd bet he'd have a different view on them.
I mean fair enough to say that you prefer Gretschs but saying Strats and Les Pauls aren't exciting is crap. I mean the best guitar sounds ever have come from strats and les pauls, that's why they are popular.

And just get over yourselves if you want to fight make a different thread to fight in because this one is about the guitar..

Yeah I do realise that but then they started to go off the subject and theres seriously no need to fight about it all.

An Internet forum is a facility on the World Wide Web for holding discussions and posting user generated content, or the web application software used to provide the facility.
As the great wiki states: a forum is a place for discussion.
And I do believe you will find that a synonym for discussion would be argument
This thread was made to show the stuff Geoff had for sale, not for you all to bitch and whinge about stuff.
So I'm closing it, since there has been very little discussion about the topic.
Have a nice day. :)
