Similar to Live 8 and Live Aid, this is a fundraiser/awareness promoter for climate change.

Simultaneously on July 7, it'll be all over the world including Sydney!

Melbourne deserves it more. We miss out on all the good stuff.

But Antarctica is going to have an event? Who would play there?

Does anybody even live in antarctica apart from a few research scientists?

I think the point of Antarctica is because climate change is affecting it heaps - extinction of polar bears etc, polar ice caps melting.

There are no polar bears in Antarctica :p

While it's all for a good cause I'm pretty sure the line up will suck donkey balls....

The 7/7/07 marks the halfway point of the Millennium Goals set by Oxfam and world leaders and stuff, so that week is gonna be packed full of events run by Oxfam. Are they in any way related?

Just thought I'd bump this up since it's this weekend.
Am I the only one who thinks all these concerts are going to cause more harm to the environment than they intend to reduce through awareness? Most people are already aware, they just choose to ignore it.
Surely there'll be a heap of traffic from people going to and from the concerts, not to mention the money spent on it which could maybe go towards cheaper, better quality installation of energy saving appliances or something else which will actually directly help.

The Live Earth concerts are on TV right now - they keep switching back and forth from Sydney to Tokyo. There's some crazy Japanese band on right now. :p

You can watch it online or listen on the radio
But yes, it is quite annoying.

Caity - if you did end up going, how was it? :)

These concerts are to make it seem like the government actually gives a toss about global warming and are making it a 'top priority" on their 'to do' lists but it's not, it's just so the public will shut up for a while.

Yeah, they seem to do that a fair bit.

The Black Eyed Peas sound weird live..

I've been watching it all weekend! :p my fam are sick of it. I though the aussie show was a bit boring. the John Butler Trio was the best in my opinion, and Crowded House were alright too, But I absolutely love one of those Japanese bands!! woo they were so good. I am obsessed now hahaha.

nah i was wearing a t-shirt that said
"Fuck Pedro, vote for me!"

haha it was funny, when i first got there i sat down and some guy came up and sat next to me, i looked over and he was wearing a "vote for Pedro" t-shirt. He looked across at me and then laughed and moved away...... it was a very random event :p
