me too. Ive always thought that the numbers and letters meant the length and thickness but apparently "The numbers and letters on the sticks were first used for inventory purposes by Ludwig which first mass produced sticks in 1917, using a machine called a V10 Rotary knife made by a company called Goodspeed. 7A meant number 7 "All Purpose" and 2B meant number 2 "Band", 3S meant number 3 "Snare". Not very useful nowadays 'cept as somewhat of a vague reference point. "

Meh, thats pretty cool that you can get Andy's stick in the online store. Think you can get Chris's picks as well....
But I reckon stuff like that should be got right from the source. I know a lot of us here have set lists and such but isn't there more sentimental/story telling value in stuff that you actually caght, pinched off stage, got given to you by a muso etc.
If you can simply "buy" it then whats the point?
I have a few little bits and pieces lying around that I really love cos I got them from shows and theres always a story to em. Like at Nashville Pussy last year I saw something lying on the ground after the people had gone and I went and picked it up. Turned out to be Karen Cuda's bass pick and I showed my friend and she just screamed. It takes pride of place with my Donnas pick, my Brian Arthur (ex Goldfinger) pick and Pat Carney's drumstick. Plus my maracca that I got from Donovan Frankenreiters drummer at falls 2004. Also have a set list from the Black Keys in 05 that was given to my by Dan auerbach and signed after the show. Also pinched the Suicide Machines set list at next in 05 and got Dan, Jason and Ryan to sign it.
All the stff I'm lucky enough to receive has pretty sentimental value. My next goal is Flogging Molly's set list *touch wood*

Yeah I'd only get signature sticks if they were the exact size that I wanted.
Otherwise I'd just get normal ones.
Which reminds me: I've been meaning to try out John Otto's Zidjian sticks . .. They seem a pretty good size

They're still collectibles, Luke. Just the same way an un-signed Tsirt is. Or a drink cooler. Plus they are actually of use, if you play drums or play guitar and want to use the same gear as an idol. Sure the stuff you get at a gig has the sentimental value, but i don't think that argument is needd here until someone goes "oh MAN! I got Andy's STIX man! Signed and everyfink! OMG! I got dem frum da online stor!"

Ah k.
Well next time I go to Billy Hyde I'll ask if I can try em out on a practise pad and see what they're like.
Cos I know from clips Ive seen that John Otto plays pretty softly to most rock/metal drummers

Yes, JO.
He's funny lookin' too.
Grumma

Yeah he is.
What I found most amusing is that he, Fred and Sam Rivers (bassist) all look like they're going bald even though Fred's the oldest and he's what? 40 maybe?
And he's been going bald for years

They're going bald with stress. Stress from knowing that your band isn't really that good.
Grumma

We can only hope that's why they're going bald . . .
Though with Fred I doubt he'll never admit that Limp Bizkit isn't too flash
