I hope that everyone here can give you prayers tonight toward those people, family, and friends of those who were injured or killed at last night's race
I did not witness the crash, but arrived 30mins after to lend my help since I am an EMT

From another thread:
I presume this was the Cali 400? I'm terribly sorry to hear about the accident, and from what I read on Facebook, i assume your fire-officer training came to the fore and you helped out at the site. In times of desperate tragedy, true heroes stand up, so i'm sure your bravery will be duly noted. I hope you're looking after yourself too. Good onya Aaron.
I'll donate something if i can. Cheers mate.

I saw this on the news, very sad and tragic but you gotta wonder..why would you stand so dangerously close to the track??
I'm a pretty heavy car enthusiast, I like up and close but not to the point of it just being stupid.
what's that saying? "it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt"

Last night, I found out that one of those who died was a guy I was with for about 30mins before he was loaded onto the chopper as I was in charge of keeping him on oxygen. He had relativly minor injuries. For some reason, he went into cardiac arrest on the flight to the hospital and never made it. I was shocked and couldn't believe it

That'll happen, there's nothing more you could've done to change that outcome.
My mother went through same kinda ordeal when she helped perform CPR on a guy who collapsed at the park. She and some others kept the guy alive til the ambos arrived, but he died on the way to hospital. It hurts because you think "what if", but at the end of the day, you fought bravely for someone else, but it was just their time.

Yah. It's the fact that all he had was a fractured leg and rib. But there must've been some hidden blunt force trauma
