I think the Living End boys have been nominated for best group of the year, dont know about any other catergories...
Best Group and Best Rock Release.

Damn you beat me to it! Can't believe The Sleepy Jackson got a nomination for album of the year over soe!
The artisan winners were announced with Chris missing out on the best artwork, Nick Launay missing out on best producer and engineer and Wake Up also missing out for best filmclip.

It's a pity those bloody Wolfmother boys have been nominated a fair bit, I have one problem with them....I don't reckon their lead singer can sing very well. It's probably just me though, me in my own random world.
Yeah good luck to Chris, Scott and Andy...and everyone who has helped them over the last year or two or three.

Best Group and Best Rock Album hooray!!! Like someone above said, we were nominated in the Artisan awards too but missed out, but still its great to be nominated at least!
And gyroscope are up!!!! Best breakthrough artist single with Fast Girl. Awesome :D

I read the nominations this afternoon, what a joke The Arias have turned into the last few years. Especially with highest selling singles of the year, says it all really doesnt it.
Atleast they seperated The Hall Of Fame into its own Awards night.

It wasn't 1997. And I'm pretty sure it was 1999....although it might have been 1998.
I'm pretty sure it was 1999 though, and they backed up again the next year with PiTM

I dunno, I was just remembering the performance off FHOI..
there was a news article on Ch 10 about the Arias, and not to my surprise there was no mention of TLE whatsoever. Yay.

Other than that, it was a pretty predictable nomination list. I think Wolfmother will be the big winners, with Bernard picking up a few along the way. Maybe Eskimo Joe.
I hope Augie March win Single of the year.

I hear how the awards are rigged every year, but I have not seen any proof of this. Do you have any evidence to back your claim? Of all the bullshit award shows that are on, I think the ARIAs usually get the winners pretty right. Remember, its always going to be about how popular each album and single got and the public reception to it.
so do we sit back and wait for the winners or do we vote?
pretty sure the industry does the voting...
the only ones the public have a "say" in is all the top selling album/single of the year awards methinks...

An aria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aria) is an operatic term - an actual word, but I'm not an expert so I don't know exactly what it means. I think it's a type of song, or something like that.
The ARIA music awards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARIA_Music_Awards) are given out by the Australian Recording Industry Association (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Recording_Industry_Association). It's an acronym. But rather than making a random acronym that sounded like a government department, the acronym was created to be a pun on a musical term that already existed.

In the advertiser today they did a little predictions thing and for best rock album they said wolfmother will probably win but The Living End deserve it more :)
